Picture Page June 2014 Winchester-Western 'Gun Club' 12 gauge tracers........ . I bought these two 5 round packs of Winchester Gun Club 12 gauge tracers made by the Winchester-Western Division of Olin Corporation some time ago. The company name went through a number of changes after Winchester was sold to the Western Cartridge Company in 1931; this particular version of the company name - Winchester Group, Olin Corporation - indicates these packs of shells were made between 1969 and 1981.
. These shells were intended for use in skeet and trap shooting to point out problems with leading the target. Both sides of the insert card from these shell packs are shown here, providing a multitude of warnings in regards to the fire hazards related to shooting tracer ammunition, storage of the tracer ammunition, child safety, Damascus barrels, short chambers and barrel obstructions, condition of the firearm, and reloading the fired shells.

This 25 round box of Winchester-Western tracer shells was also made in the same 1969 - 1981 time frame as the 5 packs above, based on the company name on the box. The shells appear to be the same as in the 5 packs as well. There is no mention of the Winchester Gun Club on the box. . . . . . . . . . . .
